We loved it, man. Thanks a lot -- you really made our night. We listened to the music until Kat went to sleep, then I continued to listen for a while longer, but because I can't sleep while music is playing, I turned the volume down. When I got up this morning, I noticed the station was still streaming. 😃

But before we speak of multiple Superbowls and MVP seasons... lets follow it up with another highly productive season with improvements in key areas.

I totally agree. I'm not anointing Aaron Rodgers the next Messiah based on his first season alone. To predict multiple Super Bowls at this point strikes me as premature. I've bought into Rodgers enthusiastically, perhaps more than your average Packers fan, but even I have to ask myself, if Favre couldn't win more than one Super Bowl in 16 years in Green Bay, how can we expect Rodgers to do so?

My only point is that if Rodgers does succeed in bringing, say, two or three Lombardi trophies to Green Bay, for fans to relegate him to second-class status simply because he was following in the footsteps of a "legend" would be gross ingratitude in my book. I would be hard pressed to consider them fans of the team if that was their attitude.

I have nothing against someone being a fan of a specific player, as long as they're honest about it (I've been a Kurt Warner fan since 1998, for example, no matter what team he has played for). But to elevate a single player above one's chosen team diminishes my perception of that person's ardor for the team.

If Rodgers wins one SB.. no worries.. he will be the second coming of Starr.

I relate it to Lombardi, and Holmgren for example.

Lombardi is still a "god" in terms of Cheesehead's.

Some never embraced another coach in the years following.. hell one even lost a dog because of it.

Along comes Holmgren and Wolf.. they never had to struggle with a losing season.. but they still had detractors those first couple of year.. just as Favre did when he made a boneheaded mistake.

But then they won it all and their legends were born.

If this collection of GM, coaches and Players get that done.. don't worry their IDOL stature will follow.

Back to the topic. The writer of the story has his Rodgers goggles on big time worse then some posters in here. He claims all the losses were on the defense and none of it was on Rodgers. His late game ints were in desperation, so now someone please tell me that he is a real writer lol.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I can think of two interceptions in the waning minutes of a game that could be labeled desperation passes. He had I believe 13 interceptions.

"In eight of the Packers 10 losses, Rodgers led his team to a go-ahead score late in the third quarter or in the fourth quarter, only to see the defense surrender that lead. In two of the losses, he led the team to a potential game-winning field goal that was missed."

He does have some Rodger's goggles on by not specifically mentioning the couple interceptions. I don't think what he said was that bad though because the things he said about the defense were true.

Rodgers had a grand total of, what, 2 interceptions in the final 5 minutes of games? Come on, people, let's not make a bigger deal of this than it was.

I believe he threw key interceptions against

Tampa Bay, Atlanta, Carolina, and Jacksonville.

That's four games right there. Granted he was hurt against Tampa Bay, but none the less it is a concern. It's not all his fault the Packers loss, but you can't have drives end the way they did with Rodgers.

I said the same thing about Brett Favre too near the end of his Packer career and Rodgers deserves that type of criticism too.

Final scores of the games in which Aaron Rodgers tossed an INT in the last 5 minutes:

Opponent Score Pt Diff Driv Std Tm Int
Tampa Bay 30-21 -9 2:26 2:19
Atlanta 27-24 -3 7:19 4:42
Carolina 35-31 -4 1:30 1:19
Jacksonville 20-16 -4 1:56 0:46

A glance at the table above reveals that these drives started, on average, with 3:18 remaining. Moreover, that number is skewed by the Atlanta game; if we leave that game out, the average drops to 1:57. He threw the interceptions, on average, with 2:16 remaining; again leaving out the Atlanta game, that number drops to 1:28.

Bear in mind, too, that in each of these games except the Tampa Bay game, the Packers lead or were tied after the possession prior to the possession in which Rodgers threw the interception.

Regardless of what skeptics want to believe, you cannot rationally expect a quarterback to consistently win games when he is forced to come from behind in the final 2 minutes of a game. Statistics prove that these kind of last-minute comeback victories are in fact the aberration, not the rule. Favre himself only won about 25% of the games in which the Packers were tied or losing in the final 8 minutes of games. What frustrates me the most about this whole pointless conversation is we wouldn't even be having it had Favre not been lucky enough to make a huge impression on the desperate fans of Green Bay by coming from behind in his first game as a Packer.

Either way, the worst that can be said about Rodgers is that in 3 out of 10 losses this year (in all of which he had lead the Packers to a tie or lead in the prior possession), Rodgers threw an INT in the last 5 minutes and the margin of defeat was 4 points or less. In other words, it could be argued that in 30% of the losses this season, Rodgers' throwing an INT in the closing minutes sealed the team's defeat. That doesn't even take into consideration the fact that in the Atlanta game, on the very next drive, Rodgers threw a TD with 2:00 remaining to bring the team within 3.

Each of those losses was in a non-divisional game and thus had little or no impact on the playoff picture. Even if by some miracle, the Packers had scored a TD on each of those drives and won those games, they would have finished 9-7. End result: they would have watched the playoffs from home, same as the rest of us.

Forgive me if I happen not to hold those 3 interceptions against our first-year starter.

What I hope for next season is it won't come down to last-minute drives. I hope our offense won't go invisible in the 3rd quarter and we'll have our boots firmly on our opponents' necks by the time the 4th quarter rolls around. 😃

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately

Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
