The Packers' romp over the Bears included an unexpected shift of linebacker Clay Matthews to the inside.  As the Packers prepare to host Philadelphia, Eagles linebacker Casey Matthews says his big brother isn't a fan of sliding away from the outside. "He did well, so you've got to assume he'll play more of it,' Casey...

Well, Clay had more of an impact in that game than he has in any other all year. I saw where he recorded 9 solo tackles including a sack and that is by far the best he has done. Quite frankly I had not been impressed with his effort against the run and he has not been a beast getting to the QB either.
If they are going to put him back outside he needs to shut that side down and get back to being the dynamic pressure guy he is known for. Otherwise they are better off with Perry out there and Clay inside whether he likes it or not.

Results will make a player happy. Clay looked energetic and excited out there. Didn't look like someone that was resigned to their position. He might not like the title of inside linebacker, but I think he'll enjoy winning better.

First I don't know that I believe Mike Florio stories. There is something about him that makes me immediate doubt whatever he puts onto the page.

Second I don't see Clay's brother as having the whole story either just because he is related to Clay doesn't mean he knows exactly what his brother was thinking. As an example Greg Jenning's sister didn't have it completely correct. Another example is a lower profile one. My daughter called me a few weeks back concerned that I was upset with how much we had to pay for her wedding. She had heard from someone (she didn't say who and I didn't ask) that my wife and I thought it was going to cost us too much money and that we would have to refi the house to pay for it. While we may have kidded about the costs of weddings in this day and age and how ridiculous the costs are, we never said anything about being upset with the costs that we are responsible for. Nor did we even think about needing to refi. I actually offered to help pay for more than what she and my s-i-l have asked us to handle.

So unless Clay comes out and says so publicly it means nothing to me.

I don't care if he'd rather play NT than be inside as long as he keeps playing it like he did against Chicago. He still played a lot of snaps outside and had a lot of rushes from inside so it's not like some huge change.

I am sure Casey said one thing and Florio totally flipped everything he said and made it worse than it sounded. After the Sunday night game, there didn't seem to be any ill-feelings towards his "move to ILB". He's not even being considered an ILB by the coaching staff and more so just a defensive weapon.

Just because he is lining up inside, doesn't make him an ILB....especially in a Dom Capers defense.

"Clay Matthews was asked about it on Thursday and said, via Paul Imig of FOX Sports Wisconsin, that there wasn’t “much truth” to what his brother said. Matthews did allow that he’d play outside linebacker 100 percent of the time in a perfect world, but added that he was “all for it” when coach Mike McCarthy approached him about making what turned out to be a productive move."
