The Packers did run more gap-scheme blocking last season, probably to adapt to Eddie Lacy's style. I believe EDS is a zone center, so I don't think losing him is a major blow. I also like the idea of J.C. Tretter at center.

(my resolution to not grumble about the OL until after the draft just got a wee bit harder to keep)

Not entirely thrilled with this mostly due to the whole continuity thing and not because EDS is a rare commodity.

The wildcard right now is Tretter but they obviously feel he can play or they would have made a stronger move to sign EDS.

Personnel changes all the time. As long as it's BEFORE the season allowing for whatever combination earns the spots to have the pre-season to work together I don't see it as a problem. All indications were the whole Chinese fire drill last year was taking hold when Bulaga went down.

An OL can gain the continuity it needs when they start in the spring and don't play a game that counts until September. What sucks is when the season is on and this guy goes down and that guy goes down and people get moved around that continuity takes a hit.
The Bears found two better players and they were rookies but their Oline was way more better than the previous year. That's how I look at our chances. Bakhitari being better and Bulaga back=better Oline play overall. Wherever they end up playing.

And if Sherrod shows up with what they thought he could be all the better. All that's in the mix here tells me whatever five guys line up this year it's got a real good chance of being quite a bit better than last year.

Wait. Saturday? Who was that? Oh yeah. You mean the Free Agent that Ted Thompson signed to win the Super Bowl with? Why didn't we win that year? We had a Free Agent signing... That's all it takes, right? 🤔

They hoped if he played with a top level QB that he would get back some of his mojo. He didn't.

Saturday is the kind of FA most fans are bitching about. But because Uncle Ted did nothing early, Saturday was all that was left on the dung heap.

As for EDS, I appreciate his effort but he was only a stop gap. Tretter will hopefully be the answer. When they drafted him my reaction was, "WHAT"?? The I realized they wold slide him inside to the C. I half expected him to grab the job in his second season. I would feel better about it if he had a full year under his belt and not missed so much time due to injury.

J. C. Tretter 6-1 310lbs

Evan Dietrich-Smith 6-2 308lbs

Packers really got larger at C.

Throw that reasoning right out the door.

I guess this one is all about the money.

Teds got a plan, hopefully Aaron Rodgers doesn't pay if it backfires.
