Yeah, you should never ever trust bleacher report. It's utter shit.

Who knows? I just hope Ted makes the best moves that he can for our team and we'll see where the chips fall. Tough to hold out too much hope for 2014, but no one wins championships in March, unless you are John Schneider.

This free agency in particular has really turned me off to the idea of grabbing a guy the first day or two. I think almost every single player that went to a new team already was overpaid.

I got the 3-4 info from the bleacher report. My bad. QCHuskerFan was right, and danreb, so are you.

I agree with the overall point, but I won't be surprised at all if Denver is still playing while the Packers are sitting at home watching TV this post season.

But how will you feel if you are John Elway and Peyton goes on IR in Week 6? You go all in to try to win the Super Bowl in 2015, fail, and you will suck for at least 3-4 years after since you have mortgaged the future. I want to win the Super Bowl, but I'm not willing to go through the 70's again.

Just a hunch. He fits a 3-4 DE perfectly, just what we need. And Trgo was his line coach and DC while in CAR. He knows him well. 7.5 sacks last season and 2 FFs.

That's one piece of the puzzle I would like to see here in GB, even at 34 years old. The guy can still play.

Yeah, he's old, but may be of great service as a situational specialist at DE. Think this guy doesn't want a ring?

And a rumor has it Trgo and Peppers didn't get along while with the Panthers together. I have no idea if that's true or not.

I like the idea of trying Peppers as a pass rushing 3-4 DE (if the price is good for the team). But I don't see it happening.

Looking at the attitudes to this notion of signing top talent, not all of them are overpriced. Were Bennet and Avril overpriced last offseason?

Just because they may not fully realize their goals doesn't mean they were wrong in pursuing them as they are. What if it works? They still made it to the Super Bowl last year, and had an amazing overall season. Better than the Packers, and are primed to do something similar again this season. It was a good year to be a Broncos fan.

I don't think it's going to set them up for a period like the '70's were for the Packers. Something similar to that could happen regardless if they don't have an elite QB after Manning retires. They could have a ton of cap space, an average at best QB, and still suck. Conversely, if they find another elite QB, they could likely still be a contender even if they are in cap hell for a few seasons. I think cap issues are a little overstated, so long as the team can draft reasonably well. If a team can't draft well, then they probably aren't having much success regardless of their cap space.

The bottom line is, the Broncos realize that they have a very realistic chance at getting to and winning the Super Bowl, and that they only have one or two more chances to do so. After that, their chances will likely decrease substantially, regardless of their cap situation. Chase the gold. Don't be fearless. I imagine it's going to be another great year to be a Broncos fan. The Packers are in a different situation because Rodgers is still in his prime. I would hope the Packers would do the same thing if Rodgers was on his last leg, though. That is, unless they had another Aaron Rodgers waiting in the wings, which hopefully they will (but the odds are certainly against that).

Do you think that New Orleans will care how much they paid Byrd if he makes the pro bowl 3 or 4 years in a row. Same with the Bears and Lamar Houston or any one of the teams that overpaid to get those players you do not want. If you think almost every single player signed so far was overpaid that has to include Shields. If you think we overpaid for Shields but we really had no choice then how can you think any of the other signings were bad. Sometimes you really don't have a choice but to overpay a little to get some talent on the team.

Like I said before, I don't think anyone wants Ted to sign the top guy just because he is the top guy but when the top guy fits why not take a shot (Also like I said before we don't really know what shots Ted Thompson has or has not taken)

For the record It doesn't really bother me that Ted Thompson does not jump in and make a big splash early on in free agency but it doesn't have anything to do with overpaying a player. I realize that a lot of these guys will turn out to be nothing special and wouldn't really add a whole lot to the Packers. You see teams losing guys and replacing them with the same type of guys and this is just standing still (I think Texas said something like that) so I am all for signing your own guys who are known quantities within your system. I just don't think it would hurt to take a bit of a risk now and then. Ted Thompson seems perfectly willing to take a risk in the draft with totally unknown NFL quantities why not take a chance on some medium priced talent rather than low priced potential.
