Which reminds me......back in the mid 1990's i worked at a factory where we had only one black guy working there. He had just started, and didn't have all our names memorized yet. One morning he walked in, turned to me and one of my co-workers Mike,(we both are white) and said "Good morning Al" to Mike and "Good morning Mike" to me.
I paused for a second, and then just couldn't help myself, saying "That's OK Ricky, we all look alike."
At which point all 3 of us burst out laughing!
This was around the time of the O.J. Simpson trial, and i started calling Ricky "O.J.", at which point he threw a curve at me and started calling me "Kato!"[grin1]
I hadn't seen Ricky in about 10 years, when the other day as i'm taking my daily walk i hear "HEY AL!!!!" coming from a car waiting at a red light. Yup, it was Ricky! I love that guy like a brother!(Is it ok for me as a white guy to call him "brother?")
Even after all these years he still has a big hug for me.
Which made me also remember, after the O.J. thing was over, i started calling Ricky "Plasma". He looked at me and said "PLASMA!?!?" I said "Yeah!....you know.....BLOOD!" I thought he was gonna pass out, he was laughing so hard![grin1]
