Packers claim RB White, place RB Saine on IR

The Green Bay Packers claimed RB Johnny White off waivers from the Buffalo Bills and placed RB Brandon Saine on injured reserve. The transactions were announced Monday by Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations.

White, a 5-foot-10, 210-pound second-year player out of the University of North Carolina, was drafted by Buffalo in the fifth round (No. 133 overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft. He appeared in 12 games for the Bills as a rookie last season, posting 38 yards on 12 carries (3.2 avg.) and five tackles on special teams. White played in three contests this season for Buffalo and rushed for 34 yards on eight carries (4.3 avg.).

White rushed for 720 yards and seven TDs on 130 carries (5.5 avg.) as a senior at North Carolina in 2010. He will wear No. 34 for the Packers.

Saine sustained a knee injury at Houston on Sunday night. He appeared in all six games this season.

Saine is a very dynamic running back, but his injuries and average special teams play made it hard for him to crack the real line-up. It's a shame because I really believe in this guys talent as an all-around back. Shame.

I liked White in the draft a few years back. He could be a decent short-yardage player.

I thought all our RBs were short yardage backs. We got Cedric Benson who gets 3.5 ypc, A Green who gets 3.8, Kuhn who gets 2.9, and Starks who gets 2.2.

I think White was brought in more for Special Teams play.If he see's the field for any large amount of running plays we will be at a point of dire straights.It will mean Green or Starks has gone down for a significant period of time.I hope this doesn't happen!!![-o< 🙏

I think with this injury we'll see John Kuhn at Running back again. Which will help us on 3rd and short. In which we had some trouble coverting them this year.

edit: I think it's awesome that we keep getting guys with long hair and or dreads!😝

I don't understand how anybody can say Saine looked promising. Guy didn't even touch the ball this year.
