wo months ago, Mason Crosby was fighting for his job. On Sunday, he etched his name once again in the Packers record books.

Crosby’s five field goals in the 22-9 victory over the Lions at Lambeau Field tied the franchise’s single-game record. Crosby’s 5-for-5 day makes him 9-for-9 on the season, just two months and three days after a disastrous Family Night scrimmage put his job in serious jeopardy.

“Ever since Family Night I’ve felt like I’ve really come into my own, come into the type of kicker I want to be, the type of kicker who makes kicks and guys rely on,” Crosby said.

“I just feel really good with my timing and my tempo with my kicks.”

it is good to see Crosby kicking well once again.

Maybe having Mathstay kick off for him is helping.

It could be that, but I think he just got the career threatening shit scared out of him - coming so close to losing it all.

Dude has hit 21 straight in games dating back to last season and including preseason. (Not counting family night, of course)

I think this is the biggest difference. Not competition or anything else. I think it all came down to the difference in the way kick-offs and field goals are struck. Watching his FG Sunday, the ball flipped almost perfectly end over end. When he was missing last year, almost all of them knuckled. What that tells me is that he was "getting to much" of the ball last year and is now getting under it.

I believe that when kicking off, he tried to hit more of the ball for distance and also for the knuckle ball action for the returners and that carried into his kickoffs.

There are a bunch of video on youtube that show kicking knuckleballs in soccer, and they look the same as his misses.

Maybe it would be 22 straight if Mike McCarthy lets him kick a 47 yarder against Cincinnati and put us up by 6 instead of behind. I am happy for Crosby and if you watch him he doesn't have the nervous look anymore.

ya watching him last year with that look was distrurbing ...
this year he is looking ecstatic; and rightly so ...

agree with the previous poster about the cinci game ... disturbs me more then the san fran game ... we should of won that cinci game after our D played their heart out
