“I didn’t leave school early to enter the draft to come and be a backup on the team. That’s not someone’s mentality. Whether it happens or not, that’s left up to the coaches … for me I came in here, wanted to compete and whatever opportunities were given I try and maximize them.”

nothing like starting your career with a tough challenge. you know right away if you belong or what you need to correct.

I sure hope McCarthey plans on giving Bacteria some help over there tomorrow, instead of going five wide and empty. He should use the game plan from the second half of the Seahag game last year.

haha, Bacteria.

Yeah, I don't think the left tackle situation is going to be pretty, especially in week one. Bacteria MIGHT be a slight upgrade over Newhouse, but I don't think it's going to be a huge one. I just hope he improves throughout the season.

Well, his last name is supposed to mean "companion of chance" or "bearer of good luck." So there's nothing to worry about...I hope...

You could help out the Ts by running screens. Slow down the DEs, wear them down making them pursue.

Or, you could just keep throwing deep and see how it works out.

He played pretty well. I just hope he doesn't take any run blocking tips from Josh Sitton.

He played OK at times and had some horrible lapses other times, as to be expected. Newhouse 2.0, but hopefully a little better. He should improve though, which is a good thing.

He played better than I expected against a very good pass rushing defense.

I agree but after that second play from scrimmage I was wondering if it was going to be a record setting day for Smith.

I fully respect your right to have your opinion but that doesn't mean I agree with it or respect you for having it.
