I don't think it's a matter of "Can". Nobody in the league would pay more for Rodgers than we would, and Rodgers isn't stupid enough to ask for a colossal dollar figure because it'll just make the rest of the team weaker. The big question is, how much personal wealth is he willing to put aside to get more talent around him?

I'm mad because I know there is a transcript of Rodgers on Wilde's Tuesday Show where Rodgers openly says that he'd be willing to take less pay so that the team can add more talent. Unfortunately, I don't know when it was said and don't have the time to dig for it (have tried looking before with no luck). Rodgers isn't going to go down the path that Drew Brees or Joe Flacco went. He doesn't want to mega millions, he just wants the bling bling. I don't think Rodgers is the kind of guy that enjoys being the highest paid quarterback, but enjoys being the best quarterback on the field (he has a brain).

Another thing to think about is how much money Rodgers makes on the side with his music label. Just a thought...

Does Rodgers deserve a Brees or Flacco-type contract? He most certainly does.

So, I am calling my own bluff. I asked Wilde via Twitter if Rodgers had ever said anything about taking less pay and I guess I was just hearing things. My fault for spreading false information.

My question:
Quote:
@jasonjwilde Please help me remember. On "Tuesdays with Aaron" was there a time where he discussed taking *less* $$ in a new contract to help the #Packers surround the team with more talent?

His response:
Quote:
@PackersMeatball No, I don't think he ever said that. Certainly not that matter-of-factly

Doesn't really matter I guess since the topic clarifies that Murphy said their wallet is fat enough to give Aaron what he deserves.

He wants to wipe Favre from the record books. Perhaps a little too badly.

This might help us when it comes to contract negotiation time, but it doesn't help us much when he's stat whoring on the field.

Why is it that you take every opportunity possible to whine about how Rodgers cares about nothing more than stat whoring for the sake of stat whoring and making Favre look bad. Take a look at Detroit if you want to see a team that throws it up for the sake of throwing it up with no regard for success through balance.

Packers were 16th in the leauge in pass attempts last year at 34.9 attempts/game, 11.3 attempts per game behind Detroit. Apparently in order to not be a whiny, immature stat whore surrounded by stellar receivers and a bunch of banged up RBs with an O line that can't get push, you can't pass it more than 30 times a game.

It's very silly and old at this point. I just ignore those type of comments and move on to a more intelligent post that usually always follows.
