A.J. Hawk has agreed to restructure the final three years of his contract with the Packers, according to Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. In 2011, the team cut Hawk before re-signing him to a five-year, $33.75 million deal. Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel tweeted that Hawk's contract was, in fact, restructured, and [...]

That's cool. AJ seems like a pretty good guy and happy to be in GB.

Yeah, I like having AJ Hawk on this team. He is a serviceable starter and great depth. I just thought he was over-payed, so if this restructure brings his salary into balance, then this is a great move for the Packers, imo.

From what I read he for sure took a pay cut n is getting less money. Its not a huge pay cut but ill take it! I think this works well for both sides.

A.J.,

What the HELL were you thinking?????
3 more years of being under-appreciated!!!!
Should have just got out while you had the chance!!

RT @TomSilverstein One thing about Hawk negotiations.
It was not take it or get cut.
Both sides worked to make it as palatable as possible.

http://www.usatoday.com/...ontract-pay-cut/1991631/

"The person, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because the details weren't to be discussed publicly, did not provide the specifics of the new contract but said it wasn't a drastic cut to Hawk's salary.

The former No. 5 overall pick was due to make $4.9 million in base salary both this season and next, with a $5.4 million base salary in 2015. The person informed of the agreement said all three numbers have been lowered.

It's unclear whether Hawk received any money up front as part of the new deal."

I'm betting Hawk did exactly what Brady did only the $ is not near as much.
Move money around to lower cap hit the next 3 years.
These contracts are all about "the guaranteed money" the rest is just "window dressing" for the agents.

Can't remember where I read it, or maybe heard on tv, until this year of the 10 or 12 100million dollar contracts that were signed, Brett Favre collected the most "actual" money paid to the player, that amount was 55mil.

It's all about 'The guaranteed $"
