If Goodell wasn't such a phoney, he'd just come out and say WE WANT TO HELP OFFENSES, TO PROMOTE SCORING AND HIGHLIGHT REELS.

But he's pathologically incapable of honesty.

Well, this one was a bad play by Williams according to the rules. It wasn't bang, bang, and it wasn't toby lowering himself into the helmet contact. It was completely Williams. this one was completely avoidable. Quit going for the head, and take the ribs out.
The world needs ditch diggers to Danny!!!

And people wonder why I'm so pro-pass.

No, it's not because I'm really pro-pass. It's because I believe in taking advantage of the NFL's greed. If they want us to throw it, then let's throw it.

It's insane but it's the way things are. They've made running backs irrelevant and smashmouth defenders far less effective than they should be.

Passing is the path of least resistance. It's what you have to take.

It's not like Ted Thompson lacked the foresight to build us that way.

THANK YOU TED THOMPSON!

Now, if Aaron Rodgers is willing to get rid of the ball in under 8 seconds THE WORLD COULD BE UNDER OUR DOMINATION!

MUHA HA HA HA HA!

I think you're a little too harsh on him here. There's tons of money on the line with various lawsuits from former and current players, not to mention the potential of congressional intervention.

It's a PR move more than anything else. Not to say that there's not plenty of truth to what you're saying too, I just think it's not the primary reason things are so dumb this year.

As far as this particular penalty goes, I was extremely surprised that out of all the bullshit calls this year, THIS is the one McCarthy decided to absolutely flip his shit over. It may not have been significant or intentional, but there WAS helmet to helmet contact. It was a borderline call.

Yes, running has become more and more irrelevant. The best athlete in the NFL is AD and he can get 200+ yards and his team will still lose because the game is all about passing O vs passing D.

It hasn't always been like this. It's because of the rule changes.

If the NFL wants high scoring games, we'll give them high scoring games. Protect Aaron Rodgers and we'll have a dynasty. I can almost guarantee this.

This is a PERFECT example of what I'm talking about. Tramon Williams was doing his job. I bet if you took 10 random non-Packer NFL fans who are old enough to remember when the rule changes started in the 70s and showed them this hit and told them Tramon was fined for it, they'd be Shrug

Protecting players? That's the disguise. I think at best that's 10-15% of it. I'm thinking 90% of it is $$$.

The NFL still makes the majority of its $$$ in the United States of America. Americans like scoring. That's why we like football and basketball. There's scoring. That's why we don't like soccer and hockey. There's no scoring.

I bet you if you kidnapped any of these NFL execs and gave them truth serum, they'd admit this.
