^ Toribio makes sense, can back-up at NT and still play on the edge as an end.

In terms of the injured players, Harris will be back. Too much of a competitor to go down like this.

Spitz, too, IMO will be back. Too talented to be done in by something like this.

Blackmon and Lee will be back too. Blackmon is an explosive returner, something we need. Lee is a second round pick that was said to be having a good camp before getting injured.

I think people are underestimating Swain. He is extremely athletic, and has shown himself to be a potentially great ST player. He seems tough, and fearless - one might want to keep an eye on him and see if he develops as someone who is unafraid to go over the middle and make that tough catch and take a big hit ala Driver.

AADP - I hope you're right about Swain.

As we learned in '05, you can never have too many WRs on your team.

No way Harris will be done in by his injury. We all know he is tougher than a boiled owl!
I am hopeful that all of the injured players will recover, and see no reason to doubt them. I could see the Pack picking up another good CB in case of future injuries, and as a future replacement when the unfortunate day comes that Harris retires. Any young CB could learn so much from Harris and Woodson.

tell me what u want but i am still not done on harrell....he can end being a great surprise next year...he had a whole year to set his back...hopefully he will be able to stay healthy.

i think he can be a really nice player...hopefully not a waste of a first round pick

Love the potential. Love the guy's character. Love the effort he's putting in.

This is getting old, though, he's injured every year. I like the pick, he was by far the BPA, but this experiment didn't work out the way we hoped.

The only way Justin Harrell sees significant time on this roster is if Ryan Pickett is sent packing. After the year that Pickett has had, I'd pay the man.

Then there's B.J. Raji, who needs no introduction.

Harrell will not play DE. Not with Cullen Jenkins there. Jolly is great too. Unless Harrell begins to bat down balls with the consistency that Jolly has, there's no place for him on the defensive line.

Also, one thing that would give Harrell a good chance is if Jolly really does get into legal trouble. However, even if Jolly does, I hope Ted Thompson doesn't get rid of him. He is a pro bowl talent, and a real steal in the draft (he was a 4th round selection if I'm not mistaken).

I don't know how you can say that.

Our 5th and 6th players on the depth chart are a rookie in Wynn, and Montgomery. Are you saying Harrell can't beat out those two players if healthy?

Here is a stat: the last couple of weeks, with Pickett out, Jenkins and Jolly have been averaging 50+ snaps. That's WAY too much. Hell, Jolly has played NT recently because of need.

On the final play of the Steelers game, where Big Ben threw the TD pass, our d-linemen were Jolly and Wynn. Jenkins was out because he was gassed.

My point is simple, Harrell, if he can ever get healthy and prove he can be available week in week out, has a place on this team as a DE. He is around 320 lbs - too small for a NT. I've pointed it out before to you, and will do so again, when Harrell was scouted, Bill Polian said he was the archetype 3-4 DE.

Harrell would provide us depth at a key position - he could be used to spell Jenkins and Jolly more. Of course, unless his career does a complete 180, he won't be a part of the Packers going forward.

You have to quantify this:

1) Jolly's primary assignment is to occupy blockers. He's big, and in this scheme you have the LBs making plays. He's done a pretty good job of holding the point, IMO.

2) The dude is averaging over 50 snaps, and with Pickett out he has had to rotate occasionally with Raji at NT. 50+ snaps for a d-linemen is too much. That Jolly has not taken himself out of games to get a breather should be applauded - the dude's effort cannot be questioned.
