wow i would love to know where some of you people are coming up with this stuff. If the contact causes the player to goto the ground (not 5 10 or even 100 yards down the field) and he loses control its an incomplete pass. For as smart as some of you posters have been are being totally stupid when it comes to this.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I didn't realize during the game how early he lost the ball. I was too busy watching his feet, so I thought he lost it when he was finally on his way to the ground. I now think it's a very tight ruling, and I can see what dhazer is saying, so I'm not too upset about it.

Saying that, I think their rationalization for why it was an incomplete pass is a little off (he lost it before he was falling), and I do think it should have been ruled a catch. It's just much closer than I originally thought.

9 pages and we won the game. I wonder how many perceptions would be changed if we had lost the game because of this play?

Instead of calling me and a few other people stupid, how about a logical explanation for how contact means a player is in the process of going to the ground.

I don't like the way it played out because it's hard enough for officials to get it right when they are dealing with a single rule and then you throw in multiple rules regarding possession and feet and contact and control again all the way through.

I mean with all this crap going on it's going to get called both ways about an equal amount of times it comes up and that's not right.

It seems rather absurd to me that if a player reaches the ball over the goal line before it's swatted out of their hands it's a TD but when a guy makes a catch in the back of the endzone and is hit he has to have control all the way to the ground.

Is simple not better? Control. Two feet in. TD.

What would the rule be if a WR were to catch a ball in the back of the endzone, was hit by the DB as he was going out of bounds, and ended up losing the ball because he cartwheeled over a camera guy?

What? Do you give the camera guy a stat for breaking up a pass?

There's no picture that's going to make me think differently about how I feel that there are too many rules in the NFL, even with one looking like a Bear trying to get the good stuff from Jennings on the behind.
