I thought that run was off left guard.

McCarthy is calling the offense based on what defense is in front of him and he is calling it right. You take what the defense gives you. The problem is without protection the execution is not there. Specifically the 0line.

When the 0line did a little better in the second half McCarthy was dictating all over the place. It's pretty simple. Five guys ought to be able to hold four rushers off long enough to get your WR's the ball.

IMO that is the wrong way to do things. We need to run our offense, and let the defense try to stop us. With MN pass rush, trying to beat the cover 2 deep played right into their hands.

We needed to force the short stuff, the slants, curls, drags what ever. 1, 3 step drops.

What we did in the game, is Let their defense dictate to our offense, and their offense dictate to our defense. That is how games are lost not won, and we did it twice, and lost twice.

We need to be aggressive. With Brett, we threw slants against cover 2, we dared the defense to stop us. We have lost that and need it back.

Well, your thinking is just wrong. What do you think a QB is doing up there pointing their finger and shouting out instructions? They are seeing what the defense is set up to do and adusting the play.

Two weeks ago Rodgers see's the defense, recalls from the film what they were going to do, adjusts the play at the LOS resulting in a long TD to Driver untouched.

Certain defenses are called to stop certain things. You don't run the ball down the throat when you see eight in the box and you don't force the ball short against a cover 2. An offense DICTATES to the defense by doing a good job against the weakness' that defense has and NOT going right into the teeth of what a given defense is set up to stop.

It's ironic you mention Brett Favre and the Vikings and the fact they beat us twice in the same breath with "screw what the defense is doing" run YOUR offense. The STRENGTH of the Vikings is ADRIAN PETERSON. What did we do? Took him out of the running game. What did THEY do. ADUST and put the ball in Favre's hand.

What the heck do you think the Vikings record against us would have been if they said "aw, screw it, they're loading up against AP but were going to run it at them 40 times and DICTATE what our offense does best?

I'll tell you what the result would have been. Two wins for us and 0 for them. The REASON it turned out the other way around is they made better adjustments to what we were doing than the adjustments we made against them.

Exactly, and the reason they can adjust is because they have a balanced offense. They can beat you running the football, and they can beat you passing the football. GB has a one-dimensional offense whose running game scares no one. You can get away with that against the Clevelands of the league, but not against the top teams.

I haven't seen anyone else bring this up, so I will.

Butler has great points, except for one. He mentioned a player hit Aaron with his helmet without getting a penalty. He said if the QB would have been an All Pro veteran or something like that it would have been flagged, but wasn't because it was just Rodgers. I missed that play, anyone else know what he's talking about? Sounded like he's grasping for straws, but like I said, I didn't see that, and I could very well have missed it.

Saw that, as well.

Was wondering why on earth that wasn't called unnecessary roughness, while a normal QB take down on Rodgers was called roughing the passer Which was a total bullshit call.

Weird.. I don't remember a SINGLE penalty/non-called penalty from this past Sunday. I just realized why.

This Saturday night I was at the Gopher - MSU game. There were 17 'official' flags thrown on MN that night (more was actually thrown, some were overruled/declined), and like 9 thrown on MSU. The majority of those calls were BS/piss poor calls. On both teams. It got so bad, that the entire 4th quarter the entire crowd was chanting "THESE REFS SUCK!" including the mild mannered guy that shares season tickets with us. It was absurd.

For some reason, after that game, I like mentally turned off to penalties. LOL

I think I'd rather deal with a couple missed penalties than a crew that throws flags every third play.

I wonder what the percentage of NFL officials that are lawyers is. And whether there is a correlation between "being a lawyer" and the frequency an official tosses a flag.
