I love Ted.

He does not mess around.

Anyone that ever typed that his ego drives his decisions should really consider apologizing for that.

He hits and he misees, and is man enough to subject himself to whatever ridicule might come his way by so many (imo) moronic fans that love to take the (at once) great and sad gift of hindsight and use it against him with their lame arguments.

Ted is smart, wise and fair.

If you don't get that still, you are none of those. If you are starting to get how Ted rolls for the Pack, you are wiser than you were previously...also imo.

what has Ted Thompson done to admit his mistakes he has proven even more that his ego is huge.

Smith cut instead of one of TT's draftees. Brian cut because he was playing bad but guess what it saved room for another one of TT's draftees. So how does he not have an ego ?

Not many GMs would cut thier 2nd round pick of last year. To admit to such a mistake takes humility, many would keep plugging away hoping his high profile selection turns out well.

No one is really going to give him credit if a 7th rounder sticks on the roster for another year. Its the high picks that bring praise and criticism and he's prepared to take a lot of heat if it benefits the organization.

I think Thompson has done a great job. There are plenty of things that have made me say WTF, but I guess that is why I work on computers and not as part of a NFL teams staff.

Draft picks flop, it is part of the game. Look at some of Wolfs picks, he had flops as well. Thompson has had many good picks as well. Would I like more, sure, I am greedy so more would be nice.

But we can't look and say player A who was cut is better than player B who wasn't because we get the luxury of seeing maybe 5% of the player. Only what is seen during the games, and what is on camera. If you only go by who makes the highlight reel, or gets their name called. Then Tauscher would have been cut years ago, because you never heard his name called.

Looking at Smith, He was always around the ball it seemed during the preseason. My question is why? Could it be that he was out of position and not playing his assignment? That INT against Ari looked great, but could it be possible, that he never should have been in position to make that play in the first place? Maybe his assignment that play was over the top coverage on the outside WR, but he was playing the center of the field.

It is easy to criticize when your paycheck and families life isn't at stake.

When Ted Thompson has a better winning percentage than MS, then you can compare the two and say Ted Thompson is doing a better job.

"buckeyepackfan" wrote:

BULL!.... I can and have said it... I can say it when ever I want to. You sure have balls..... telling people when they can or can not say something.....

One of the main reasons Ted Thompson was brought in was because MS was trying to deal with playe contract negotiations and then go out and be the head coach. It has been proven that philosphy has failed more than succeeded.

"buckeyepackfan" wrote:

The reason Thompson was brought it was because Sherman failed... point black he failed.... the Packers where over the cap limit because Sherman failed and kept giving people money they didn't deserve..... he told the media his game plan... and then traded up for guys that where reaches even if he didn't trade at all.... couldn't find much talent..... you can spin it anyway you want to.... but the facts are he failed as a GM. Yeah the games went up because they was because of the players Wolf got as GM.... I don't know how to say Sherman didn't suck at GM.... he just plain sucked at it.

As a coach I think Sherman was good.... other than letting Favre get away with anything and not willing to ever change his game plan.... that's stupid.... i think everyone changes they're game plan if it's not working... but him...... also not focusing on D or getting the coaches that would (well Bates did in the end so he did.... just took longer than I would like (same with MM). As a coach Sherman did very well.... but as a GM he just let the talent get old and didn't restock a lot of talent that was lost to retirement and FA.

because Mike Sherman failed as GM. Ted Thompson cut players when it's clear it's a mistake.... Sherman keeps his guys no matter what.... heck he kept two punters..... just because he didn't want to show fault.

GMs may get judged by wins and loses but when it comes down to it there job is to get the coaches and talent in place. Thompson has gotten both... Sherman didn't get talent.

Gee if Mike Sherman failed, then Ted Thompson should not even be the GM.

Mike Sherman put together the best running game The Packers have seen in a long while. He had nothing but winning seasons until his last.(TT 1st as GM).

When MS was fired as GM, I agreed with it, it was time for a change, but don't say he failed when his winning percntage was 2nd or 3rd best in Packer history.

Ans yes, go back and look it up, whoever it was that brought in Ted Thompson said the main reason was he was talking with MS, and all MS could talk about was the asshole MIke Meckenzie and the way he was holding out, instead of focusing on being HC and getting ready for the upcoming season.

The Packer organization failed when they gave MS the double duty of GM/HC.

I'll say it again, I like what Ted Thompson is doing, but the time has come for the HC and the players(who are mostly young and full of potential), to step up and perform. Which means win more games than they lose.

This is a very pivotal year for Ted Thompson and MM, they have had the backing of most through some tough times, but it is time for positive results or there could very easily be a fan revolt if this season is a failure.
