I would agree but #34 is just out of first round range so I doubt NE would go more than that. If they were both later round picks then that would be more likely. Also, I don't see a big drop in quality from #25 to #35 in this draft and you can bet Ted Thompson would love another one in there.

I agree that this would most likely only happen if the players Ted Thompson deems worthy at #9 are gone.

I still say take Jackson if the other ones you wanted are gone and sit back and see how bad NE wants to deal when their pick comes up. If Peria Jerry is there I would trade Jackson for him and the #34 and I'm not sure we wouldn't end up with a better draft than if Raji was there at #9 anyhow.

I KNOW I would be happier with that then Orakpo. I would rather take Jackson and just keep him first. There's a lot less mystery in whether or not Jackson can play DE then if Orakpo will fit in the 3-4.

The grab Jackson, then trade him is good in theory, but there is one major stumbling block. You see, if we draft him, the NFL will assign his "rookie allocation" from the "rookie pool" to us, as a 9th pick. It would not transfer to NE in a trade. The only way the allocation transfers is if the pick transfers, not the player picked. It's even worse than it might first appear. The Pats would not have the allocation for the 23rd pick, either, if they traded the pick, along with the 34th or the 47th, or whatever. Again, the allocation follows the pick, not the player. So, Jackson for their 23rd and 34th would require them to figure out how to pay him with a rookie allocation given to them for the 47th pick. If it was the 23rd and 47th, they STILL wiould have to figure out how to pay him with the allocation from the 34th pick, PLUS the 34th pick. Confused? Well, if they don't unf--k the CBA, you will not have to worry about such matters, lol.

I like Jackson too, but his limited upside might make me want to move him for three first day picks.

I think New England would trade their two late 2nd round picks and their first to move up to No. 9. GB probably throws in a later pick too.

The problem with dealing with the Patriots is normally you end up being the loser, but six picks in the first three rounds would have to entice the Packers and they'd be able to build up their defense and offensive line.

I think the last time we dealt with the Pats they got Chad Jackson and we got Greg Jennings. I could be wrong on that.

edit, I agree, dealing with the Patriots usually means you are going to be losing out on something. If they want to trade with you, that's a good sign you're doing something right, lol.

I say NO. There are 3 players in the top 10 that could possibly fall to us that we would have NO chance of getting at 23. Those players are BJ Raji, Brian Orakpo, and Andre Smith.

I would love any of the 3.

Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Fining them is the goal, per the people who made the rule anyway.
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Still waiting on the kickoff rule changes. Did hear yesterday that the touchback proposal will now be the 30 yard line, not the 35
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Probably speed of game issues with your proposal
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Hopefully the refs don't get in the habit of throwing flags on this
beast (25-Mar) : I think when it comes to Challenges should get two strikes, so unlimited challenges as long as they keep winning them, but 2 wrong then done
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Still subject to the fines etc
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Yes, I should have been more specific. Also, they are now saying it would be a 15 yard penalty. That makes more sense .
