The defensive and special teams scores were awesome in the first half of the season. It is a good thing to have some big-time playmakers on defense, especially Woodson and Collins, and you might throw Tramon Williams in there as well. Those guys do give us that X factor so that if this defense could get its act together it could be really great.

Agreed Greg..I think this wave of scoring from the defense has lead to our second half of the year falloff. It has lead our players on defense to play out of their assignments hawking the ball.

and the D helped to single handly WIN the philly game and the washington game last year..

So whats your point?

I did the numbers on another thread a while back

last year total of 49 tds...had 3 from D and s/t take those away thats 46 tds...

322 points ....31 fg or 93 points...

415 points===

26 points per game on offense in 2007

This year so far

41 tds take away the 8 from D and s/t thats 33tds or 231 points..........

22 fg...66 points for total of 297 points..for an average of about

23 points on offense

So......3 points per game more last year...

Defense this year giving up 25 points per game

2007 gave up 18 points per game

Thats 7 more points per game the D is giving up this year

Long i think you are forgetting the fumble return for a TD to make it 9 tds instead of 8 which if i remember drops it down. Hopefully we can score some more points coming up in the last 2 weeks.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

okay missed one

42 total- 9 is 33*7=231

25 fg * 3 = 75

75+231 = 306

306/14 = 22 offense points per game

Defense

37 tds given up = 259 points

FG 23*3 = 69

69+259 = 328

328/14 = 23 a game

Like i said i made this thread to try and look at a few bright spots this year. My grandmother taught me way back when i was a tiny grasshopper that when things go bad don't look at the negative look at the bright spot no matter how small it is and just remember that.

I've been saying this for weeks. I think the stats -- "league leaders in takeaways and defensive touchdowns" -- got to their heads, and they've gotten sloppy. They're more focused on strips and interceptions than hitting the shit out of people and slamming them into the turf. Not coincidentally, in my opinion, they haven't gotten an interceptions, strips, or takeaways in weeks.

I read an interesting article (I think on Advanced NFL Statistics ) that pointed out there is essentially NO correlation between the number of interceptions, fumble recoveries, and defensive TDs a defense snags and the actual quality of the defense. Sometimes terrible defenses lead the league in interceptions and scoring, while great defenses have few such gaudy statistics. And almost never does a team that leads the league in interceptions come anywhere close the following season. In fact, a team that leads the league in the first half of the season rarely leads the league in the second half. It's essentially a random phenomenon.

our defense has had some good games this year but there is no way we should have lost to carolina after scoring 31, to the texans who had a last second field goal, and the jags who drove down the field way to easily. If we would have won those games we'd be 8-6 right now heading into chicago. the defense lost those 3 games for us

Zero2Cool (3h) : Former #Packers TE Josiah Deguara is signing a 1-year deal with the Jaguars, per source.
Zero2Cool (4h) : They do not do it for "content sake".
dfosterf (14h) : For the record, I enjoy Beast and Mucky drafts
Zero2Cool (21h) : Haha
Mucky Tundra (22h) : No time for talking! Back to work beast!
beast (23h) : You saw only 4,201 of my mocks? 🥺 I think that means you missed more than half of them 😢
dfosterf (27-Mar) : Does anyone know what Lambeau field improvements got put on hold? My guess would be for the 2025 draft
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : It's like listen, you made 4,201 mocks, no shit.
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : Cuz during the draft "I had them mocked there!" as if it's amazing.
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : They're fun to do once in awhile. It's people who think they are "content" that annoy me.
dfosterf (27-Mar) : Against tbd
dfosterf (27-Mar) : Answer to your question is yes, it's a Thursday, will be the Chiefs aga
dfosterf (27-Mar) : Luckily for all concerned, I don't post them. I did one, but that was like 25 mocks ago
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : NFL 2024 gonna start Sept 5th isn't it???
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : Ugh... kids these days!
dfosterf (27-Mar) : I'm gonna go do some more mock draft hell instead 🤪
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : Did we do one of those prediction threads yet for 2024 season?
dfosterf (27-Mar) : In my city, they are playing the nimby game, in order to keep some railroad tracks vs. 2 professional sports teams and a concert venue.
dfosterf (27-Mar) : And/Or a city council, of which I haven't seen a good one in a very long time
dfosterf (27-Mar) : That sounds like a Mayor, not a city.
buckeyepackfan (26-Mar) : Packers halt scheduled 80mil upgrade of stadium until lease agreement talks are restarted
Zero2Cool (26-Mar) : City of Green Bay puts Packers' Lambeau Field lease talks on hold

Mucky Tundra (26-Mar) : BAH GAWD! THAT'S CHEESEYS MUSIC!
Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Gutekunst said early stages of Jordan Love contract being discussed.
Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Shouldn't be penalized cuz official screwed up
Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Yeah, challenge until you are incorrect twice.
Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Fining them is the goal, per the people who made the rule anyway.
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Still waiting on the kickoff rule changes. Did hear yesterday that the touchback proposal will now be the 30 yard line, not the 35
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Probably speed of game issues with your proposal
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Hopefully the refs don't get in the habit of throwing flags on this
beast (25-Mar) : I think when it comes to Challenges should get two strikes, so unlimited challenges as long as they keep winning them, but 2 wrong then done
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Still subject to the fines etc
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Yes, I should have been more specific. Also, they are now saying it would be a 15 yard penalty. That makes more sense .
beast (25-Mar) : Simply fined in the week to follow
beast (25-Mar) : I agree with one NFL official, it'll probably be like some of the helmets hits, not really called by the refs on the field but simply fined
Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Hip drop is not. Super confusing. Referees job is harder
