I remember several years ago when Fred Taylor got the nickname "Fragile Fred" after missing 6, 3, 14 games in his 2nd, 3rd, 4th NFL seasons. Everyone was saying how he can't stay healthy. He went on to start every game his next two seasons. My point is that injury streaks can come to an end. Like investments, past performance is no guarantee of future results.

I understand the apprehension behind Matthews and his injuries but I don't get the resignation to them. Is it simply a feeling of "If I expect him to miss 4 or 5 games I won't be disappointed when he does"

Had he just had a one time issue I wouldn't be so concerned. It was an injury that cost him games...then the whole season. There will always be concerns about Clay's body for me...rightly or wrongly he's lumped in with Cushing and those reports that go way back to the combine about him. I just hope he doesn't have a body not meant for the long haul...some will counter with the Matthews "bloodline" argument but if that was the case he shouldn't have been as damaged as he has so far in his career.

Sherrod could go on to become a Hall of Fame left tackle and Nick Perry a Hall of Fame line backer. However, recent history doesn't suggest any of those things will happen and I certainly wouldn't bet on those odds. I certainly hope CM3 stays healthy. He's an amazing player to watch. But the recent trend just makes me nervous and I suppose a little pessimistic. It would be much more of a surprise to me if he stays healthy than if he doesn't.

Other than the thumb injury, has Clay missed a lot of games?

My knack for jinxing players is seemlingly alive and well. I was preparing to make my first blog about the versatility of the defense this season and how Lattimore fits into that, and boom he gets injured. I wonder how long they think he will be out...

Clay Matthews said yesterday that the Packers played Nick Perry and "obviously" he wasn't ready and that the Packers were desparate for bodies at LB.

That being said, I think Perry just hasn't fully healed.

6 in 5 years. 2 years he missed 0 games due to injuries. He missed 1 game in 2010 and 4 in 2012.
