Maybe you aren't playing WR if you run a 4.8 but Jarrett Boykin sure as shit could get open and dude ran a 4.74. I don't even like the Jones comparison for Davante that much Jones isn't nearly as athletic and doesn't have the hands of Adams. Also I don't see how we lack speed when we've usually got one of the top big play producing offenses in the league. Seems to me like we've got plenty of speed. Also you keep crapping on pro day 40 times when your guy Latimers great 40 time that you love is from a pro day.

So, Latimer is taller, stronger, and faster and he jumps a half inch less. So, his 2 inch height advantage negates Davante's .5" jump advantage. The measurables favor Latimer quite convincingly.

Beyond all these times...watch the clips on YouTube and get a sense for your own self. It may be hard to do now that you have a Packers fan bias for Adams. I watched all these clips predraft and Latimer was one guy I wanted, and Adams was one I didn't. I may be dead wrong but will be fun seeing the comparison with Adams.

Our offense does lack speed despite it's ability to put up yards and points. I think Lacy is, technically, the fastest guy we have on offense save for Janis. Nobody is ever going to accuse the Packers of being fast on offense not sure why anyone thinks our speed isn't a problem.

Our speed isn't a problem because whatever lack of speed you seem to think we have it doesn't hinder our big play ability or production. Jordy can get behind the other teams Safeties just as well as any other WR in the league. The proof is what happens on the field in pads not what happened in shorts and a t-shirt in a straight line 5 years ago, the guy is fast it's as simple as that.

Well, I do want a guy that "fits" in the system. That's what works and that's what Ted gets paid the big bucks to find.
It worked with Jordy, it worked with JJ, it worked with Cobby, it worked well enough they could let another guy it worked with go to the Vikes. All found somewhere around the same place in the draft close to Adams.

If it all came down to picking the biggest, strongest, and fasted player at all these positions you wouldn't need a damn GM. The fact is some of the very best and most productive WR's over the last 10 years have NOT been the biggest, fastest, or, strongest players. Hell, guys like Donald Driver would have never hit an NFL field in that world.

I mean, c'mon. Do you really think that if it takes Adam's getting to 22 freaking reps he couldn't be there by mid season? There's football players and there's guys that look like football players. The difference comes from what you can't measure.

As a Packers fan, I would have been pissed drafting Latimer, who broke his 5th metatarsal in his foot doing a cone drill... in January...

Denver will not see a return on this pick until well into 2015. Visions of Najeh Davenport and Robert Ferguson. No fucking thanks.

Adams and his production speaks for itself.

That's why guys like Megatron and Julio Jones are special WR's...they run 4.5's? Yes, Jerry Rice wasn't a burner. Fast as heck on the field though. Adams ain't like Rice on the field. Looks like he runs in moon boots to me. This poo pooing of speed is odd. Also, it is odd to speak of Adams 14 reps like it could easily be 22. James Jones was at 22 when he was in Adams position and Latimer at 23. By the logic here, Latimer's ceiling is way higher because he can improve from 23 reps while Adams is starting at 14. This is one of my major issues with Green Bay philosophy which I generally agree with. Our org believes it competes by drafting and developing players. IE: Datone Jones ready to make a jump in Year 2, is the philosophy. Here's where I hate what we rely on. Does the fact we have this philosophy stop the other 31 teams guys from having the same type of improvement? So, when the Vikings, Bears and Lions draft guys they don't get any better just because they don't play for the Packers? It's not like the rest of the league is static and we're moving because we like that cute little draft and develop refrain.

Seattle and SF go out and get what they need. We stand pat, usually, but this year we went out and grabbed a guy at the very end. Hopefully, that turns out well. It as nice to see us finally take the bat off the shoulder and go for it a little. Our one move still pales in comparison to the multiple moves SEA and SF make to be dominant teams in the league.

So, we draft middle of the road speed guy Adams while quicker guys are on the board. We replace slow James with slow Davante. Not only do we subtract James Jones from our arsenal but we add back with a 2nd round pick a guy who is said to be his clone. Just not sound strategy to me. We shall see how it all works out.

No idea what you are watching with Adams so I don't know what to tell you. He doesn't look slow to me, nor did he time slow.

I'm not sure why you keep talking about bench press reps because I really really doubt there's a very strong corellation between bench reps and wr success. I doubt they drafted Adams with the intention to work on his bench reps. They drafted him because he's a good WR who can play all of the WR positions. He didn't run the full route tree at Fresno but he does run good routes.

For the thousandth time Adams isn't even slow and he doesn't play slow and we didn't draft "middle of the road speed guy" we drafted "one of the top WR in the draft guy". I guess if we were drafting someone to stand near the sideline and run go routes we got the wrong guy but that's not how GBs offense works. Also I don't really see what Adams and Jones have in common besides they played in the same conference in college and they had similar combine 40 times. Literally every single other important thing about being a WR favors Adams at this point.

You know the only time anybody puts really any merit to these 40 times or bench press or any of that crap is in the pre draft process.

How many benches did Jordy do? How many can he do now? Who ran faster and jumped higher than he did and are all that better than he is right now? Answer one of these without looking it up.

Way to much weight put on this bullshit and not what is in a guys chest and between his ears for me. Sorry.

So is Heyward-Bey a total dud because he ran TOO fast or because he didn't bench enough?

I'm confused.

Adams had EIGHT other WR's go before him. I really wonder how far he would've fallen had Ted Thompson not drafted him? He was the first slow WR who wasn't Mike Evans to go.
