I would say worry not. They are being asked to be more athletic in this defense. This defense is one that has been in transition for a few years now. Good to see it finally coming together. The depth looks good. This is definitely a group that can mold itself into a championship level.

The bad pass looked like it caused the slip.

I was impressed most by:

1. Lacy - he will be great in Green Bay. Just what we needed.

2. Starks - ran really well. A full year of that will be huge.

3. Brandon Smith - big corner who looks the part, and made some really great plays. Missed on Cobb early (a lot of CBs will get spun by Cobb), but the next play, came in and hit Lacy in the backfield. Also had a good pick in the end zone.

4. Johnny Jolly - holy sh*t! Great to see him back with us, and he can move!

5. AJ Hawk - looks like he really put some work in this offseason. This may be the fastest I have seen him, and that change could pay off big time.

6. Omarius Hines at WR. Size, hands and poise. Wow. Ted is THE man at finding WRs.

7. Datone Jones. He's going to be special.

8. Davon House - look good again. Hopefully, he can have a great full season.

9. Giorgio Tavecchio - he will be our next K. It will be great to put more points on the board.

10. Sam Barrington - nice read and react

A lot of our regulars looked good. Ross looked great on returns. I like the Amosa kid at FB. When did we get a Banjo?

Oops! Almost forgot Pease!!!!! Great RB. We have an incredible group back there. Pease will give Green serious competition for a roster position.

A lot of great reaction here.

A lot of yall have hinted this already and I want to say that I agree. I think the new guy takes Kuhn's spot this year.

Yeah. Every one of those mentions made me go "Wow!" Not homerism. Just saw some really great football from those players. We have a lot to be excited about. This is a very deep, talented team.

Just a quick serious question for those of you who saw the scrimmage. Do the good plays you all talk about make you feel better for the guy who made them or do you think the guy defending him just sucked. Obviously if a RB breaks two tackles and has a good run that looks good but then again two guys missed tackles right. Everybody talks about the good night Lacy had but others are quick to point out that it was against the Packers run defense so what do you take away from it all? The good run performance or the poor defensive performance.

I respect your right to have your opinion but that doesn't mean I agree with it or respect you for having it.

I think most people talking trash are rival team fans.

It was a scrimmage so the defense was not playing full go. This was more still about evaluating decision making and executing the right plays. The real test will come during the pre-season games.

Hi sschind,

I recorded it and watched it twice to get a good read. I would say in every case, these guys were making some really special plays, rather than benefitting from miscues from the opposing player.

We've been around this long enough to know, and it is a great question, but, you'll see soon enough. Eddie Lacy, IMO, could well be the steal of the 2013 draft. Unbelievable.

Good points. If guys are dropping passes and completely missing assignments that is a bad thing for sure. I guess the actual results of the plays are not as important as if they were executed properly and guys were in the right position.

I guess that's what I really wanted to know, thanks.

I hope I can see the preseason game Friday night. I don't have a TV and I can't afford to go sit in a bar to watch a preseason game so if my sister and Brother in law (the Bears fans) don't invite me over I'll have to rely on you guys. Oh crap, I just remembered I'll be sitting around a campfire drinking beer and I don't even know if they will have TV reception so seeing the game may be out of the question.

I think it was starters v second teamers on both sides.
