i don't get what a locked, reinforced cockpit door will do when someone brings a bomb on a plane but maybe that's just me.

jfc - people are so damn prudish & oh so 'worried' about their rights, it's just sickening. if you don't want to get scanned, don't fly. trust me, nobody's in the back room trying to measure your manliness or lack thereof.

everybody wants it all, wants it now, & doesn't want to be inconvenienced. it's impossible!! so yes if i have to be scanned to fly so the chances of my being blown up, shot, or stabbed in midair are lower, so the hell be it.

can't wait to hear the responses to this one. lol.

Wade.. heck of a response.. but I have a couple points I disagree upon. But I want to make sure the response is measured to a similar degree of your post.

But I have one question before I do.. do you take issue with the government maintaining our roadway infrastructure and the governing rules surrounding them?

That is actually quite offensive.. but hey screw it.. it is your opinion. Bunch of judgmental bullshit based on one aspect of governmental regulation intended to promote safety in which the opinions differ.

The argument is drawn on where the lines of government control are drawn.. not whether I want to be "free" or not.

Sometimes I think the lines of effective governmental control are clouded in an increased hatred of the government itself.

But to enjoy some of the freedom of this country we currently enjoy, they are reliant upon effective and neutral regulation to ensure free trade and equal opportunity. The pure definition of what a government should be.

So define the points of government structure that will ensure the freedoms we as a society now enjoy.

We are looking for utopia in some views.. I don't think it is achievable.

I agree with the notion of less government and control, but there are cases in such as air travel, where without a regulation, the "free" system we have built today wouldn't be achievable without monopolies and less choices that we enjoy today.

So the FAA regulates flight slotting so that the smaller airliners can fly into smaller locations where the big boys don't want to fly into, yet can effectively fly into the major hubs without getting squeezed out.. they ensure there isn't chaos in flight and mistakes in flight patterns, assisting the pilots navigate their travel.

The FAA in purity, is suppose to promote equal opportunity, safety and an efficient grid, free from pressure from the dominate airlines.

You can argue all you want whether we should have the FAA all you want.. eliminate it if you wish.. privatize it and allow the small guys get squeezed out.. but then don't bitch when you can fly into the choices of today.

The TSA is an extension of the safety element.. and while I agree some of their tactics are over board.. I think they are within the letters of the law to be there and actually make more sense than trying to accomplish the same type of intention at the gates dictated by the individual airlines themselves.

But really.. I am only a slave..
