The fallout in Viking land as begun and if they didn't dislike Favre before, most are hoping on that train today.. this is all playing directly into the Vikings rivals.. a bitter pill to swallow right before training camp.

Source of Course and Read more...

Brett Favre, the Hamlet of Hattiesburg, finally made a decision, finally told the Vikings that, after teasing them for months, he intends to remain retired.

Favre should be ashamed of himself for toying with an entire organization. The Vikings should be ashamed of themselves for investing hope and faith in the most self-absorbed great quarterback in NFL history.

Favre was the Vikings' human lottery ticket, and the Vikings today feel like anyone who ever wasted their money on a long shot. The initial rush of adrenaline has been replaced by nausea and regret.

Thanks to Favre's belated and damaging decision, there are no winners in Minnesota.

The Wilfs, after dreaming of guaranteed sellouts and skyrocketing jersey sales, now will proceed with Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels taking snaps.

Vikings coach Brad Childress, who kept his players in the dark while winking at Favre, now must pretend that he was a luxury instead of a necessity, that his current quarterbacks are good enough to win a playoff game, that this 12-car pileup of a courtship was nothing more than a fender bender. Nothing to see here, folks; please move along.

Jackson and Rosenfels will sheepishly take first-team snaps early in camp, knowing the Vikings preferred a 40-ish serial retiree coming off arm surgery over them.

Vikings fans, instead of dreaming of a Hall of Fame quarterback running a dynamic offense, will have to go back to hoping that Jackson or Rosenfels will miraculously become decisive readers of defenses and leaders of men.

Viking players will have to face Jackson and Rosenfels in the locker room and huddle, knowing that the current quarterbacks know that the team's stars were texting love letters to Favre.

Those of us who love a great story will miss Favre jogging onto Lambeau Field wearing purple, the consummation of perhaps the most stunning example in sports history of an iconic, Hall of Fame player synonymous with his franchise manipulating his way onto the roster of a rival.

I think it will impact them even more so since Bevell and Childress basically begged Favre for a whole week to change his mind. They even got star players to start texting him every day to convince him otherwise.

Not to mention Sage and TJack feel confident that their teammates and coaches are behind them 100%.....riiiiighhht.

Thanks Favre. I appreciate the effort of hurting the chemistry of the team. One last parting shot at the Vikings.

As ridiculous as this whole thing has been, Favre is still better than anyone they have. So if this hurts Jackson's/Rosenfels' feelings, tough shit.

You can say that, but they're going to be looking behind their backs after every bad decision. Confidence in the starting QB is important in every organization. The team was obviously not behind these guys and their focus will be affected.

Sort of how our team seemed to be affected by the distraction of the Favre situation last year. That distraction during training camp bled into the season.

dfosterf (4h) : The only problem with that is he isn't a guard either.
dfosterf (5h) : Put him at right guard. That is where he will be coached. That is where he will compete. He is not even allowed to look at the LT playbook.
dfosterf (21h) : Kidding aside, I hope the best for him.
dfosterf (21h) : Went to a Titans board. One comment there. Not very long. I quote: "LOL" They don't sound overly upset about our aquisition.
beast (21h) : OT Dillard has been absolutely horrible... like OG Newman levels
dfosterf (22h) : Suit him up and have him stand in front of the big board as a draft day cautionary tale.
Zero2Cool (22h) : Packers sign T Andre Dillard.
Mucky Tundra (18-Apr) : Adds most of the information this time of year comes from agents.

Martha Careful (5-Apr) : Diggs has not stepped up in the playoffs and has a high cost
beast (5-Apr) : Probably not going to let Diggs walk away unless he's horrible... but according to reports he also might not be as good as he used to be.
beast (5-Apr) : The 25th pick in the draft has been an offensive player since 2017, 2 TE, 2 WR, 1 RB, 1 OC
Mucky Tundra (5-Apr) : Odd, why give up a 2025 2nd Rounder for him if you're just gonna let him walk?

Zero2Cool (3-Apr) : No. Kill QB. No worries. 😁
Mucky Tundra (3-Apr) : Diggs, Collins, Dell and Schultz is gonna be tough to cover
