I think the franchise has done themselves plenty of favors with the Lambeau remodel and what not. This current team is going to be able to do much better in a capless NFL (lets hope they can get a new CB agreement in place by March '10 so this doesn't become a reality) than the old Packer franchise from the 70's and 80's.

I didnt gear much about this - so what happens in 2010 no cap on what they can spend anymore?

Sounds like what its like here in england with soccer and it sucks. Only the 'best' teams can afford all the good players ie best by teams that have the most money. Simple as that. BORING ... not that I care about soccer but from what I hear it sounds boring as heck.

I personally dont enjoy sitting in front of my PC for 3 hrs to watch the Packers games. I live in Idaho so I am pretty much stuck with Seattle or Denver every week - barf. I know I could go to a bar or stream it online, but I would much rather a few bucks and watch it on my own couch.

I'd be all over PPV. I have been calling for it for years. The stranglehold they have on NFL broadcasting is annoying as hell. PPV and other avenues to watch the NFL would be great. You can get ten times as many games with mlb.tv for what, 75 bucks a year? Yet you need to have Direct TV and then buy NFL Sunday Ticket to have the game at home.

Who'd go for pay-per-view? I wouldn't even shell out five bucks for a PPV. Cable, satellite, etc. are already expensive enough -- now add on an extra fee per game? Not me. I'd just go somewhere that was showing the game. The Joint downtown hands out free shots every time the Packers score a touchdown.

You'd be surprised with how many people would buy a PPV game...I would. I rarely get Packers home games here in Virginia, I'd talk my mom into letting me get it, lol.

I wouldn't be surprised because I'd pay to see the Pack. My old way of doing it was costly - go to bar. That means take wife. Wife eats. I drink. Ends up being a lot of money every weekend.

Also, when you're at a bar, wouldn't it be hard to consentrate on a game?

I guess I was thinking about those of us in the Packers' natural viewing area. For us play-by-play wouldn't make sense. For those of you in other parts of the country, I can see how it would be cost effective. And even at $80 a year ($5 x 16 games), that's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying the Sunday Ticket (assuming you're not interesting in watching other teams).

I still think it's ridiculous that Monday Night Football got moved to ESPN, so you have to have cable or satellite to see it.
