GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Running backs coach Sam Gash had the official count, but Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Tom Clements did not need an exact number to know running back Eddie Lacy was a tackle-breaking machine in Sunday's 38-17 win over the Carolina Panthers.
"I think Sam has the number, but I think it was in the teens," Clements said Monday. "So that's quite a few."
It was perhaps Lacy's most efficient performance of the season. Without the benefit of a big run (he had a long of 29 in his 105-yard game against Minnesota in Week 5), Lacy rushed for 63 yards on just 12 carries with a long gain of 11.

However, I've seen just about every game this season of Melvin Gordon, as well as every game of Demarco Murray, and whenever I see Lacy break some tackles and go for 15 yards or so, I just can't help thinking, Murray woulda gained twice as much, and Gordon woulda broke it for a long TD.
I was just saying last game how Lacy, when there's no hole, just runs up the back of his blockers and goes nowhere - and with the Packers O Line, that happens a lot. Then, low and behold, Lacy made a liar out of me and bounced it outside to score his touchdown. Good, but I still say, it could and should be better, especially given McCarthy's desire to run first to set up the pass - which I really don't agree with, and which may bite us in the ass against a better team.
Soon after, I was just finished saying, Starks can break a big one if he ever gets a hole, but if the hole ain't where the play is called, he just runs into the line and goes nowhere. Then, he made a liar outta me to by bouncing and breaking it the opposite way - just like Murray or Gordon.
What we have is good, and with Aaron Rodgers as QB, good is good enough at RB. Just the same, I'd rather have great than just good. Can you IMAGINE having Melvin Gordon at RB along with Rodgersat QB?
