I guess that's a good point. But why not promote him earlier so we can sign someone else to practice squad? I don't get the giant fuss about the final cut down to 53, then keeping your team at 52 for a few weeks. We they thinking that Mulumba may come back? I doubt it.

If you promote him to the 53, then someone gets cut and you are awarded them via waiver claim, now you have to cut a player and then hope he clears waivers and signs back onto your practice quad.

I was wondering about being at 52 for 2 weeks.

Could it be Ted was waiting to see if anyone came available via being released by another team that could be more game ready?

We all remember Howard Green getting in Rex Ryans doghouse in 2010, Ted scooped him right up and the rest, as they say is history.

I guess Luther Robinson performed well enough in practice the last 2 weeks to get promoted to the 53 man squad.

Josh Boyd getting injured probably helped speed his promotion.

Now with D. Jones getting injured, the D-line could be really thin.

Let's hope the news is not to bad and both Jones and Boyd will be ready for Miami.

NFL players get paid by the week, and practice squad players also get paid less most of the time.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Technically The Packers played a man short for 2 weeks, but considering a team can only have 46 actives on Sundays it really didn't effect anything.

There is one other scenario working, let's all remember that Tretter is due back in a few weeks. a decision is going to have to be made whether to activate him or not.

Maybe Ted was holding that spot for Tretter?

When Boyd went down, the need for another D-lineman became more urgent.

Does anyone know how to find the Official NFL Rule Book online ? I've heard this rule and that rule referred to many times. I really would like to read the book for myself . Any help would be appreciated ! Thanks 🤔

If you have 52 and can only suit up 46 and you don't have a high priority need to add one to get you to 53, there is no reason to do so.

I suspect the Packers have their eye on many players waiting for them to be cut/released and if so would drop a claim on them. If this were to have happened and they promoted someone to their 53 prior, then that means they would miss out on the recently released player. Therefore, they would have to cut someone to make room.

There are a lot of scenarios to this not rushing to add the 53rd. Maybe they got wind that someone was about to be claimed from their PS and didn't want to miss out?

If you add Robinson, then cut him in favor of someone else, then you expose Robinson to the waiver wire again. That just doesn't make sense unless you NEED to do it and the Packers didn't at the time.

I can't explain any better, sorry, but it makes clear sense in that space between my ears lol ... it's all a numbers game.

Edit, I'll see if I can us an example. You're at 52, you promote someone from your PS to make you at 53. You then add someone to your PS to fill that void. Thing is, you weren't going to activate that person on game day as one of the 46, so what did adding him to the 53 get you? Nothing.

A day or two later a player whom you've desired for some time has been released. You submit a waiver claim and woohoo, you are awarded that player. Now you have to cut someone to make room for them and hope they clear waivers so you can put them back on your PS.

Does that help at all or did I make things worse lol

dhazer (12h) : Steelers sign Patterson because of new kickoff rule interesting
Zero2Cool (15h) : Former #Packers TE Josiah Deguara is signing a 1-year deal with the Jaguars, per source.
Zero2Cool (16h) : They do not do it for "content sake".
dfosterf (28-Mar) : For the record, I enjoy Beast and Mucky drafts
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : Haha
Mucky Tundra (27-Mar) : No time for talking! Back to work beast!
beast (27-Mar) : You saw only 4,201 of my mocks? 🥺 I think that means you missed more than half of them 😢
dfosterf (27-Mar) : Does anyone know what Lambeau field improvements got put on hold? My guess would be for the 2025 draft
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : It's like listen, you made 4,201 mocks, no shit.
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : Cuz during the draft "I had them mocked there!" as if it's amazing.
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : They're fun to do once in awhile. It's people who think they are "content" that annoy me.
dfosterf (27-Mar) : Against tbd
dfosterf (27-Mar) : Answer to your question is yes, it's a Thursday, will be the Chiefs aga
dfosterf (27-Mar) : Luckily for all concerned, I don't post them. I did one, but that was like 25 mocks ago
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : NFL 2024 gonna start Sept 5th isn't it???
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : Ugh... kids these days!
dfosterf (27-Mar) : I'm gonna go do some more mock draft hell instead 🤪
Zero2Cool (27-Mar) : Did we do one of those prediction threads yet for 2024 season?
dfosterf (27-Mar) : In my city, they are playing the nimby game, in order to keep some railroad tracks vs. 2 professional sports teams and a concert venue.
dfosterf (27-Mar) : And/Or a city council, of which I haven't seen a good one in a very long time
dfosterf (27-Mar) : That sounds like a Mayor, not a city.
buckeyepackfan (26-Mar) : Packers halt scheduled 80mil upgrade of stadium until lease agreement talks are restarted
Zero2Cool (26-Mar) : City of Green Bay puts Packers' Lambeau Field lease talks on hold

Mucky Tundra (26-Mar) : BAH GAWD! THAT'S CHEESEYS MUSIC!
Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Gutekunst said early stages of Jordan Love contract being discussed.
Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Shouldn't be penalized cuz official screwed up
Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Yeah, challenge until you are incorrect twice.
Zero2Cool (25-Mar) : Fining them is the goal, per the people who made the rule anyway.
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Still waiting on the kickoff rule changes. Did hear yesterday that the touchback proposal will now be the 30 yard line, not the 35
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Probably speed of game issues with your proposal
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Hopefully the refs don't get in the habit of throwing flags on this
beast (25-Mar) : I think when it comes to Challenges should get two strikes, so unlimited challenges as long as they keep winning them, but 2 wrong then done
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Still subject to the fines etc
dfosterf (25-Mar) : Yes, I should have been more specific. Also, they are now saying it would be a 15 yard penalty. That makes more sense .
