On Tuesday, tight ends coach Jerry Fontenot said the Packers hadn't discussed the possibility of moving Lyerla (6-4, 260) to fullback, where John Kuhn will be 32 next month and is playing on a one-year contract. Last week, Lyerla admitted he was somewhat intrigued about a move to fullback, especially because blocking was one of his strongest suits in the first week.
"Just in terms of the jobs I was asking him to do, that (fullback) certainly seemed to be something that kind of fits in his wheelhouse as far as his build and his makeup," said Fontenot. "He's got some explosiveness, some natural talent."
Asked what about trying to become the next Kuhn, Lyerla replied, "I mean, whatever pays the bills."
