Just about every DE I see in this draft is on the small side. Most are 260 or less. There are only a couple 270 or above, at least that are currently shown in the top of the class. I am not sold on the small DE in the 4-3 the team plays. They are easily moved in the run game. That is why Jenkins was moved to DE in the first place.

Do we really want to draft a DE high in the draft that is going to get a big check and not be an every down player. I am thinking that if there is not a great Olineman at #9, a trade back in the 1st picking up a 2nd in the process and have the ability to pick up a 300 lb DT that has the ability to play DE run also. I am just picturing having two Jenkins playing at the same time with the flexibility to move them around and cause havoc.

Then probably having two early 2nds to fill the Oline with.

You develop him as an every down player. Even if he doesn't play first down and 10 all the often doesn't mean he's a bad pick. The Packers get beat through the air because of the lack of pass rush and if you add that, you get a much better defense. That's what the No. 9 pick is all about. Adding an impact player and pass rush is as important as any aspect of the game.

As far as two Jenkins' goes. I think we forget he was a big time bust in 2007. Jenkins is a flexible player that creates flexibility in your defense, but he's not worth having if you can't have a player to plug in for him at DT on running downs or DE on passing downs. To use Jenkins properly, the Packers will need to grab that type of player whether it's Brian Orakpo or Everrett Brown or Gerald McCoy the DT from OU.

Jolly isn't that bad at stopping the run. We could plug him in there while he's at DE and we can put Orakpo /Brown/Whoever we get at DE in passing situations. Also, we could get a big DT in the second round that can give Jenkins a rest.

Yeah I definitely think that the Packers are better off at DT than DE right now, but both positions need one impact player this off season. I have my hopes of a Albert Haynewsorth and Brian Orakpo tandem being brought in, but that's probably wishful thinking.

There's no question that they're better at DT than RDE....we didn't even have a solid starter at the RDE spot. (We did in Jenkins, but we know he got injured).

Michael Johnson, DE. His rank has fallen significantly since the start of the year, but he's still worth a high pick. He's a situational pass rusher type guy, like Justin Tuck was last year. IMO we don't need a player that can instantly become an explosive starter, considering we have Jenkins/Kampman ready next year. We should develop him a few years, having him only as a pass rusher, until he's ready to go full-time (this is all gathered from many internet draft guru's evaluations).

Mucky Tundra (13h) : Based on Gutes comments, now I don't feel as silly having 13 picks in my mock the other day
Zero2Cool (14h) : Zach Wilson to Broncos.
Zero2Cool (17h) : Gutekunst says he'd love to have 13 or 14 picks. He's trading back huh lol

Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Maye needs to be AFC
Mucky Tundra (21-Apr) : Not liking the idea of the Vikings getting Maye
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Vikings HC joked that he may or may not have sent flowers to Bob Kraft. That's where rumor came from.

dfosterf (21-Apr) : One playbook to my knowledge. I was shooting for facetious.
beast (20-Apr) : I'm not sure they have different playbooks for different OL positions, and Dillard run blocking is supposedly worse than his pass blocking..
dfosterf (19-Apr) : The only problem with that is he isn't a guard either.
dfosterf (19-Apr) : Put him at right guard. That is where he will be coached. That is where he will compete. He is not even allowed to look at the LT playbook.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Kidding aside, I hope the best for him.
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Went to a Titans board. One comment there. Not very long. I quote: "LOL" They don't sound overly upset about our aquisition.
beast (18-Apr) : OT Dillard has been absolutely horrible... like OG Newman levels
dfosterf (18-Apr) : Suit him up and have him stand in front of the big board as a draft day cautionary tale.
Zero2Cool (18-Apr) : Packers sign T Andre Dillard.
Mucky Tundra (18-Apr) : Adds most of the information this time of year comes from agents.

dfosterf (8-Apr) : Question of the week for me: Has anyone besides me done any deep dive into the potential of Alex McGough, our 3rd string qb?
