Packers linebacker Clay Matthews exited Sunday's win over the Lions with a thumb injury. Per a league source, the thumb has a fracture in it. Matthews left Sunday's 22-9 win over the Lions in the fourth quarter.  It's unclear whether the injury will limit Matthews' ability to practice or play. The Packers travel to Baltimore...

Didn't our soon to be Hall of Fame QB play 3/4 of a season with a broken thumb, albeit a pretty poor performance? If Clay sits out with a broken thumb, he'll have to stop doing those predator dances.

A stress fracture is different from a complete snapped off bone or a crushed bone.

Hopefully they can put a club on him, but I think the level of severity could be a factor.

Heard he might need surgery.

The way this team reports injuries the whole arm is probably amputated.

I agree. If it was a Wrist I would be worried. Does he really need his thumb to play? haha

Wasn't Nick Colins head amputated too? :3

I bet Clay could play with one arm

Well it would be harder for him to strip Adrian Peterson so he can run it back for a touchdown. Big Grin

Did anybody see him after on the sidelines - how bad off he looked? Anybody know if it's his right or left hand - and which-handed he is? It makes a difference performance-wise. I would think anything short of a really mangled compound fracture, and he could postpone any surgery until after the season and play with some kind of a soft cast. I don't think they allow those "clubs" like in the good old days.

Hopefully they don't chop off the wrong arm the first time.

He'd be able to punch it out better.

I know that they do allow it actually. The Redskins had a defensive lineman with a club. I believe it was Barry Cofield.

You're correct. Sean Lee of the Cowboys played with one two years ago.

But maybe this injury could have been avoided if Matthews stretched a little bit more before the game...

Morgan Burnett had a club last year, did he not?

The real problem is, with a broken thumb, will Clay still be able to inject himself?
