Coming off a memorable postseason in 2010, Packers cornerback Tramon Williams suffered a serious shoulder injury in the first game of 2011 that still hasn't fully healed. A year earlier, in the Packers' run to Super Bowl XLV, Williams emerged as one of the top cover corners in football. That season, Williams started all 16 games [...]

I'm hopeful he returns to that 2010 form. With his shoulder showing improvement, maybe that happens. He is a team leader now, and very highly respected. Tramon is a great player to have back there if he can perform anything like he did three years ago.

I'll reserve judgment until I see him try to tackle Adrian Peterson in the open field. It he goes at him like the Matador Darlene Sharpier - then I'll say no - he will never return to pre-injury form. But if he takes him on like Al Harris, then I'll say yeah he's back baby. Personally, I think Tramon is buck shy right now.

He ought to be healed by now - if the shoulder is anything but permanently damaged.

His real value isn't run stopping. It obviously is man coverage on an island. I think he still is great at that. I would even say better than Shields - IMO the reason Shield got so many pass breakups the last half of last season was that teams were going his way/staying away from Tramon.

My understanding is that

Before this offseason Williams said his shoulder effected him during the 12-13 season... and said he's sure it will recover to 100% this offseason.

=======
Edit... he claims that the media took it out of context. According to Williams after the 12-13 season, he was asked about the 11-12 season and him saying it effected him, he was talking in the context of 11-12 season but the media took it out of context and made it sound like he was talking about the 12-13 season. And so claims it didn't effect him last year though it wasn't 100% but thinks it will be even better this year.
=======

Now at OTAs, Williams has said his shoulder did NOT effect him during the 12-13 season and that he's been 100%.

To me... that says cover up.

Like Bigby saying he's 100% and totally ready to go... only to find out shortly later he still hadn't even attempted making a jogging cut on his leg injury yet (and he later needed a surgery before coming back but he kept saying he was 100% at the time).

Long story short, I don't think Williams shoulder will recover unless they find someone they get surgery fix and then do it. Also with Williams playing worse and these up and coming guys playing better and looking very good, I think they need to think about asking Williams to take a pay cut to help pay for others. If he says no then maybe cut him if the others look good enough.

Basically the media said after the 12-13 season that claimed Williams said his shoulder injury effect him during the 12-13 season.

Williams claims that after the 12-13 season someone asked him about his shoulder injury in the 11-12 season and so his answer was based in the 11-12 season... not the current time period which the media took the comment out of context and put it at the current time period.

So Williams said it didn't effect him last year (though I still don't think his last year play was up to par with his pre-injury play).

But he's also said while it didn't effect him last year, it wasn't 100% ether... and shoulde be even closer to 100% now. He says it's a nerve injury which nothing but time can heal that.

Packers | Tramon Williams healing
Fri, 24 May 2013 07:42:17 -0700

Green Bay Packers CB Tramon Williams' (shoulder) nerve damage in his shoulder has drastically healed due to a workout regimen that includes yoga and jump ropes.

The entire season Tramon was put on an island against some of the best receivers in the league. Players like Calvin Johnson (twice), Marshall (twice), Crabtree (twice), Hakeem Nicks, Andre Johnson, and Larry Fitzgerald, While doing this, he had inconsistent play at the strong safety position behind him and a poor pass rush in front of him.

Is he Revis or Sherman? No. However, with his combination of size, speed, and experience, I feel more comfortable with him covering the #1 WR. Which would allow Shields to focus on the speedier receivers and Hayward working from the slot.

2013: $5.9 million (+ $300,000 roster bonus),
2014: $6.9 million (+ $300,000 roster bonus),
2015: Free Agent

That's 6.7 million per year average left. He hasn't played up to level IMO lately. I would like him to agree to reduce that number some ust like Grant did a couple of years ago, and just like Hawk did this offseason.

If he refuses to reduce it and the young CBs are looking great (though House and Shields aren't working out fully at OTAs) then maybe think about cutting him to get some of that money back.

So it's not his injury as much as his play vs. his pay.

Marshall even made a big deal about it before the second game, because someone (I don't this he said who) was claiming he stopped Marshall, but Marshall says he beat him one on one but they always had a Safety help on him.

Same with the other big named WR. Capers didn't leave the big named WRs with only one DB on them often other than some of the higher number blitzes.

"Capers is their player MVP," Marshall said. "For their players to be over there talking about how awesome of a job they did shutting down certain players, I don't respect that when it's two and three guys on you or other guys.

"Coach Capers did an amazing job of game-planning us and game-planning me. I didn't beat double- or triple-coverage or whatever they were throwing at us. I take it as a slap in my face when guys talk about my lack of ability to do something against them when they have help all over the place.
