I think it goes back to this old adage.. release them one year early instead of one year late.

Charles is right about up against the break point of being an impact player yet.... might be beyond it.. or just in front of it.

He was my current favorite Packer. I just loved the way he plays the game. I wish Green Bay would attempt to bring him back, but it sounds as if they want to move on. It's disappointing, but the NFL is a business and the Packers have other priorities. The secondary doesn’t have many tacklers, so his departure is a huge omission in that regard. However, it’s his leadership that Green Bay will have trouble replacing.

I think he makes the HoF.

Gonna miss him a lot. Always seemed to be making big plays and he seemed to turn a corner in his life when he came to GB. You wanted to root for the guy. The story of his Super Bowl injury and halftime speech still gets to me.

It wasn't the same feeling as when DD retired. Who can't love the current version of a CW, but he had issues along the way.

It surprised me a little, I wish him the best.

This was tough call, even if he had agreed to a paycut. His decline with speed and quickness over the last two years was vast. And throwing him in at safety with 2 recent collarbone injuries was not a real good decision. I hope Charles makes the decision to retire like Driver did. It's not enjoyable watching these older player decline, and I don't understand why some of them insist on risking injury.

I have two awesome Woodson jerseys, I'll always cherish. Good luck Charles with all you do in the future, and thanks for all you did with charities. We'll keep our fingers crossed that you wear your Green & Gold jersey into the Hall of Fame one day.

Dude won't retire by choice without the all time pick six record. Hope he gets it too.

I wish Charles well. Financially, the move had to be made with his loss of speed and two collar bone breaks. I loved watching him play for the Packers. Remarkable talent.

The salary cap takes another one down.
You only have so much money, and you have an aging player who is at or close to the end. Ted Thompson did what he had to do. Not easy to see a favorite player go, but that's today's professional sports.

I'm sad to see CW go and I too hope he gets the pick 6 record. Wish he would have come back at a reduced salary because that's going to happen no matter where he goes, nobody is going to pay 10 mil a year. Who knows if there was much effort put into that. But I am glad we have a GM that makes the tough decisions for the good of the team.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

dfosterf (8-Apr) : I say he is better than so many of these draft picks
dfosterf (8-Apr) : Question of the week for me: Has anyone besides me done any deep dive into the potential of Alex McGough, our 3rd string qb?

Martha Careful (5-Apr) : Diggs has not stepped up in the playoffs and has a high cost
beast (5-Apr) : Probably not going to let Diggs walk away unless he's horrible... but according to reports he also might not be as good as he used to be.
beast (5-Apr) : The 25th pick in the draft has been an offensive player since 2017, 2 TE, 2 WR, 1 RB, 1 OC
Mucky Tundra (5-Apr) : Odd, why give up a 2025 2nd Rounder for him if you're just gonna let him walk?
Zero2Cool (4-Apr) : Texans to let Diggs be free agent in '25

Zero2Cool (4-Apr) : The 25th pick in the draft hasn't been made by it's original holder since 2016.
Mucky Tundra (4-Apr) : Gotta imagine that Green Bay vs Houston will be a primetime game this upcoming season
Zero2Cool (3-Apr) : No. Kill QB. No worries. 😁
Mucky Tundra (3-Apr) : Diggs, Collins, Dell and Schultz is gonna be tough to cover
Zero2Cool (3-Apr) : Stefon Diggs' trade will not be processed as a post-June 1 designation, so that is just over $31 million in dead cap this year.
Zero2Cool (3-Apr) : Bills trading WR Stefon Diggs to the Texans in exchange for a 2025 2nd-round pick. (via @rapsheet)
