The Packers haven't had a problem beating the Lions with Calvin Johnson so I don't see how they would need to counter him. It's not like when the Vikings drafted Randy Moss and then they lit up the Packers on national television. The Packers have handled the Lions pretty well with CJ on their team.

Regardless, overlooking Detroit would be a mistake. Johnson’s had success against the Packers. Imagine the stakes if the Lions actually improve in other areas, which they aren’t far from doing. They’re a young team, coming off postseason success two years ago, and have a very gifted quarterback. Frankly, I fear them more than Minnesota and Chicago.

The smart teams stay ahead of their competitors by accurately anticipating the future. I don’t think anyone inside 1265 is taking Detroit lightly. If the interest in Revis is true, then I think Johnson’s presence within the division is one of many variables leading to that interest.

Detroit Lions haven't had post season success since the early 90's lol other than that, you nailed it.

Chicago with Marshall and Jennings or even Harvin and Jennings would be scary. Ok not so much the Vikes unless they get a qb aka Vick would become very scary.

So there should be consideration but not at that price unless we sent them a player with a huge contract.

Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Throw in that Revis is coming off a major injury, it feels like sodomy to give the Jets our 1st rounder. Also consider that we would have to dump Wood in the process to fit Revis' salary. A lot of ifs ands and buts to get one of the best corners. One thing is for sure - we won't have a chance at a talent like Revis in the draft anytime soon.

If I recall, Bob McGinn or Tom Silverstein mentioned before that the Packers tried desperately hard to trade up when Revis was still available in the mid-teens during his draft year. I also recall that McGinn once questioned Ted in one of his pre-season exclusive GM interview about regretting not pulling the trigger for a deal to trade up and draft Revis, Ted replied with a "No comment." Not the usual "We don't discuss those types of things" sort of spin Ted usually gives, but a very blunt refusal to answer. I found that to be interesting, for what it's worth.

I'm not so sure why the Packers would really retain any interest. You've got a capable corner in Tramon (when he wants to be, that is) and a solid young core in House/Hayward/Shields. That's enough to challenge other elite receivers like Marshall and Johnson. Sure, if the Jets want to discuss trading Revis and call you, then you listen. But active interest? Not sure they would have any, especially with Revis due to become a contract raise in a couple of years and the Packers needing to redo Rodgers, Raji, Claymaker, and potentially Finley.

Especially if the rumors about the asking price are true, I don't believe Ted would have any interest in him. As much as I'd love a big splash, I'm not sure I'd care for one at CB when the CB you are getting is damaged goods and you've got a group that is perfectly capable enough without any big name addition.
