In some states, it's what having a handgun is called.. Not sure in Wisconsin. But in Minnesota, there's no such thing as conceal and carry, it's called a permit to carry. You do NOT have to conceal your weapon if you have your permit to carry, so yes.. you can actually have it holstered outside your shirt on your hip if you wanted. Not that it's recommended, but theoretically speaking.

German Gilbert, Just because you don't SEE guns, doesn't mean they arn't being carried.
As is the case here, the problem is the bad guys that are concealing their guns and you have no idea who is and who isn't.
If someone were to try to attack me, i'd sure like it if there was a GOOD guy that was carrying that could come to my defense.

As far as practice, i never had any "formal" training. I was raised around guns, and was taught how to use them and that they were NOT "toys". My Dad had his rifle rack right where i could have access, yet i NEVER touched them. I knew that they could kill, and never messed with them.

Back in the 1980's, i was out phesant hunting. I saw a guy also hunting, with his dog. I stayed far away, but watched just in case he flushed a bird my way.
He called to me, and invited me to hunt with him. After the hunt, i was at my doctor's office, and mentioed that i had been out hunting. He told me he read an article in the Milwaukee Sentinel about a guy named AL, and started quoeting things i had said to the guy that invited me to hunt with him. Turns out, the guy was a writer for the Sentinel, and throughout his article kept mentioning how safe i was with my shot gun.
The guy in the article invited my to contact him to hunt with him again, which i did, getting my first bird and a half page picture in the paper. It was pretty neat!

This whole position is very weak. The best thing the pro gun crowd can go with is that you need a rifle to shoot big game, a shotgun to shoot birds, and a handgun in the nightstand to protect your home. But when they go on about the "good" guys packing heat to shoot bad guys old west style - you lose my support on the issue. And as far as I'm concerned, the pro gun crowd loses the assault rifle debate.

Maybe if people would start looking out for each other, this country would be better off.
Many domestic violence cases could be stopped if people would get involved. Same with bullying.
Too bad most people look the other way when these things happen.

Now, ethically are your standards correct, Cheesey - probably? It sure would be nice if the right wingers took this concern when it comes to caring for the poor instead of treating them like they pebbles in a shoe.

Wow....i'm not sure how to respond.
Seems you got your political parties confused. The "Kumbaya" party is the LEFT! They believe that if you just take away ALL weapons from EVERYONE, that we all will just hold hands and sing that wonderful song.

And the right HATES poor people! Talk about stereotyping.
Hey....if you love the poor as much as you say, how about sending me $650 for my next month's rent, as i AM one of the poor.
We may become homeless in the next month. Not kidding.

As i said, this country used to "stick it's neck out" for each other. That's back when it wasn't a "horay for me, and screw you" mentality we have sadly come to reguard as "normal".

It goes along with the desire to remove GOD from everything.
And yes, when this was a Christian nation, we didn't have the amount of selfishness and crime that we have now.
It's "ME!ME!ME!" that has us where we are.
No one cares or wants to get involved.

The "new normal" is what has this country on the decline.

It is that way, but it doesn't mean i have to like it or accept it.

As a matter of fact Cheesey, a couple years ago I brought up the topic of helping you out with another member of the forum, but that poster thought you'd be offended - so I let it go. I know how everybody likes to call me an asshole for calling out the horrors of Republicans, but if you need the money that bad, then PM your address and I'll pay your rent for a month. Seems to me you should be collecting disability though. Isn't that why we all pay taxes.

I personally like you quite a bit, though it can at times be an extremely difficult position to defend. [happy], as your philosophical views are completely WHACK, as a small example of how you roll... [duh] 😝
