I've recommended PH to three people. To my knowledge none have joined yet (unless they are lurking).

Part of my problem in not recommending the place is that I don't really hang out anywhere else in Packer fandom anymore. Since Foster lured me away, I've found myself visiting that place less and less often. Not because of anything against them, but I would just rather come here, and I don't have time to be a regular at more than one place at a time.

And part, if truth be told, because even though I'm a relative newbie, I'd like to see the place stay relatively small. To me, PH reflects what a "small town" or "neighborhood" can offer that cities and megalopolises can't match, but without most of the negatives that small towns tend to have. People here are friendly, but not insular. They are smart and diverse, rather than cliquish and tradition-bound. They listen, not just pontificate. They tolerate even weirdos (see the various Viking/Bear fans) and boring academic types (see yours truly).

One of the things I like about this place is how it welcomes strangers. (Thanks, again, Foster, for asking Kevin to take a chance on me; thanks, again, Kevin, for taking that chance and letting me join; and, again, thanks to everyone for putting up with me!) I don't want this to be a clique of "our club, not anyone else's.

But I'd rather it build the way a neighborhood bar builds its clientele. One recommendation and one customer at a time.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I still chuckle when I reflect on the fact that I -- and Rockmolder, for that matter -- joined this site through a process that would later become against the rules here. 😉

Look what happened on Sept 14th 2008 lol. We ended up with 3 very different members here on that day.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Just curious...what was said process?

(or do I have to call Jay Glazer and other bastions of the new journalism?)

As an aside:

I have to admit that sometimes I fear some of the stuff I say here "getting out" to the larger world and "getting back" to the place where I work. Not that it stops me all that much, but a lot of what I post here (not to mention read here) would "make uncomfortable" the PC police where I work.

:xcensoredx:

It's another reason I like this place.

It's not really against the rules per se, but against my wishes. I prefer year round members, not seasonal members.

I helped see us through the "fiasco", along with the rest of the "former" "staff", and got to know so many of you on more than the "surface" level. I am extremely proud of Kevin, Shawn, Rourke, myself and Porky for that.

This site not only survived during that experience, it actually thrived... because of that "team" of differing views, but with a strong sense of fairness being universal...

This is NOT what I am most proud of, as regarding Packershome.com

What I AM proud of.... is taking a little time and trouble to explain to a fellow member from another packer forum "how we roll" at packerhome.com

...and he tried it. ....and he LOVED it....and now, you love him...I absolutely do, on a selfish level...

I intend to do the exact same thing this year, with a different fella...

It would be excellent if I was not alone.

Go get one. It isn't that hard.

Really... this site is free, except for our personal investments in it.

Go get one friend. I'm not talkin' "GAY PRIDE WEEK" OR NOTHIN'... LOL

Just make ONE committment (for once) to (SOMETHING) -- It really beats the hell out of constantly "just bitching".

I know this is futile, to a degree, but you are a fock-off, imo if you do not try.

I also admit I am opinionted, you lazy bastard.

Mucky Tundra (20h) : Adds most of the information this time of year comes from agents.

Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : Saints have agreed to terms on a contract with former Packers wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown.

dfosterf (8-Apr) : I say he is better than so many of these draft picks
dfosterf (8-Apr) : Question of the week for me: Has anyone besides me done any deep dive into the potential of Alex McGough, our 3rd string qb?

Martha Careful (6-Apr) : Go Boilermakers!!!
Martha Careful (5-Apr) : Diggs has not stepped up in the playoffs and has a high cost
beast (5-Apr) : Probably not going to let Diggs walk away unless he's horrible... but according to reports he also might not be as good as he used to be.
beast (5-Apr) : The 25th pick in the draft has been an offensive player since 2017, 2 TE, 2 WR, 1 RB, 1 OC
Mucky Tundra (5-Apr) : Odd, why give up a 2025 2nd Rounder for him if you're just gonna let him walk?
Zero2Cool (4-Apr) : Texans to let Diggs be free agent in '25
buckeyepackfan (4-Apr) : 49r's aign RB Patrick Taylor.
Martha Careful (4-Apr) : Reversion to the mean would indicate we will keep it
Zero2Cool (4-Apr) : It's also been utilized in a trade in 14 of the past 20 years
Zero2Cool (4-Apr) : The 25th pick in the draft hasn't been made by it's original holder since 2016.
Mucky Tundra (4-Apr) : Gotta imagine that Green Bay vs Houston will be a primetime game this upcoming season
Zero2Cool (3-Apr) : No. Kill QB. No worries. 😁
Mucky Tundra (3-Apr) : Diggs, Collins, Dell and Schultz is gonna be tough to cover
Zero2Cool (3-Apr) : Stefon Diggs' trade will not be processed as a post-June 1 designation, so that is just over $31 million in dead cap this year.
Zero2Cool (3-Apr) : Bills trading WR Stefon Diggs to the Texans in exchange for a 2025 2nd-round pick. (via @rapsheet)
