I can imagine life without Favre. Imagine watching NFL games without hearing his name brought up every other sentence.

Wow . . . I could not ask for sweeter bliss.

From a Viking fan standpoint..

Yes, I'd welcome Favre back.

No, I have no problem with the 'will he-won't he' talk. Pssst.. Guess what Packer fans? We knew what we were getting into when we signed him. We are very well aware of how he likes time to make up his mind. Meanwhile, he won't thow a pissing fit when/if we go into free agency/draft for a QB. It's a win-win, despite the chants of "Feel our pain Queen fans!!!!"

T-Jack has expressed how he wants to stay in Minnesota. Will he? I don't know.. is there a team out there dumb/desperate enough to give him an obnoxious offer? If not, then T-Jack will remain a Viking.

I can't think of any more 'issues' to touch on, so that is all.

It just gets tiresome. You've dealt with it for 2 days. We dealt with it for years.

And I laughed out loud at the "win-win" statement. Funny stuff.

Why do people even care anyway? Is there a Warner watch? You want him to make a decision after a game like that. If he doesn't care, his coach doesn't care, his organization doesn't care, his teammates don't care, why is the media so obsessed with this? Because everyone will read for some reason evne though no one "cares". Its the funniest thing.

"RedSoxExcel" wrote:

People care because he's easily one of if not THE most well-known and well-liked NFL players, especially when you're talking about people who aren't particularly football fans. Most non-NFL fans know who Favre is.

The media cares because Favre stories get hits on the internet and views on the television. The media cares about what will get the average rube to watch their shit, and Favre does it.

Finally - and for as much as I don't have any real beef against the guy, I'm stunned to see how many people casually overlook this - this happens because he lets it happen (and I would suggest that he wants it to happen). Don't answer the question, there's no story. Don't start the 'aw shucks' routine - just say "That's a question for later - I'm not answering it now." He never does that. This is the 4th or 5th year this has gone on, and other than maybe this year, he's the one who brought it up in the first place.

So: Favre dangles a carrot out there, the media boys smell blood in the water, the stories get huge hits and views because we watch/read them, more stories are written. And on it goes.

If my tone seems snotty, it's not intended that way. I'm just trying to answer the question.

You know, you do make a couple very good points here, though as a Packers fan they are a bit disappointing. This is totally different.

- You know he's just a 'rental' - seriously, if he's there another year it's just a bonus, because most Vikes fans never expected him to play more than a year. This is completely different than those initial years when he'd start up with the "I don't know if I have anything left" talk after the final game and then let us twist in the wind until sometime in June or July.

- You don't have to walk on eggshells around him. Since he's really a 1-2 year solution, nobody - not even him - would bat an eye if you spend a high draft pick on a QB or pick someone up via FA. That's just common sense. Again, this is in stark contrast to the shit storm Rodgers' drafting stirred up.

- Finally - and this is the one that will really taste sour to the Packer faithful - I'm willing to bet that he'll make whatever decision quickly and will stick with it. He knows he's burned bridges in the past. He knows that he's lost some fans over the past couple years. He's now in a position (again) where he's truly beloved. I think he's probably learned that lesson, and Vikes fans will know what the future holds in short order.

I'm not jealous you got Favre - we Packers fans are ridiculously lucky and have our QB future set solidly in front of us with Rodgers. But I am a little jealous that you all won't 'suffer like us', and in fact likely won't suffer at all. Rats.

Obvioulsy I care because I think he is entertaining and the NFL is 100X better with him as he provides hype. But I just don't get why so many people keep such a close eye on "Favre Watchs". Especially if he's not a Packer. Who cares, he's proved over and over again that whatever he says doesn't matter. The media eats it up (AND relies on it), he loves the attention and everyone will read EVERY news flash, so why do people get worked up about Favre Watch is annoying?

"djcubez" wrote:

LOL you're such a hypocrite. You wonder why all people do is talk about Favre yet you bring him up ALL THE TIME. JESUS.

"RedSoxExcel" wrote:

Because he's my favorite player of all time and I don't complain about how he gets too much attention or say no one cares about what he does or get tired of "Favre Watch" or mock "Favre Watch", etc.

I think A LOT of people (including on this board) are OBSESSED with him (either because they really like him and find him entertaining or they love to hate him) but some people can admit it and others can't. You wouldn't have the media coverage of him if it didn't sell newspapers and bring in viewers. So this whole circus around him is just as much his fault as everyone of you that reads articles about "Favre Watch".

... You know what I give up. I am not going to win. You win. I'm too tired.
